This moody coastal landscape was painted en plein air on a recent trip to the South Coast - just the day before Cyclone Alfred was predicted to hit further north. The coastline was tempest and rugged...seafoam was battering rocky shorelines and the skies overhead were overcast - but somehow peaceful.

There was a glow in the sky - a white light - breaking through grey clouds that offered a sense of hope and comfort, despite the turmoil elsewhere. The ocean below lit up in beautiful muted aqua as the light fell over it. I paused palette knife in hand watching that light for a while and that ocean with it's sea spray and seafoam before bringing this new emotive beachscape to life.

Now it serves as reminder that despite any storms overhead and dark skies that threaten, light will eventually break through and all will be ok again.

NB: While every effort is made to capture the true colours and details of my artwork, every screen is different and art viewed online does not do my work justice. Slight differences may be evident between a screen image and the true tone and textures of my work, which is more vivid and beautiful in reality. Scale may also be slightly off due to the insitu art app used, so please ensure you measure your space.
