"Painting the coast evokes so many feelings within. The process can take me straight back to a time, place, moment, event - a memory that lies dormant within until something in the painting triggers that memory to resurface.
So to 'Evoke. This one flooded the memory bank, evoking so many different emotions: joy at the memories of warm Summers spent in fresh teal waters, sadness at the loss of a loved one who used to treasure the coast like I do; acknowledgement of strength and resilience to persistent health challenges; and now, contentment and hope for the season I'm currently in.
A season where I seek quiet and comfort and can find it here...on an empty, overcast beach, rugged with rocky headlands, where sandy inlets bring refuge and solace from the turbulence of life. Where the threat of rain only lifts my mood not dampens it; a washing away of old hurts and traumas and in it's place, renewal.
Whatever this artwork evokes for you, I hope your response to it's invitation is to pause, reflect, exhale...and find peace and comfort too".
NB: While every effort is made to capture the true colours and details of my artwork, every screen is different and art viewed online does not do my work justice. Slight differences may be evident between a screen image and the true tone and textures of my work, which can be more vivid and beautiful in reality. Scale may also be slightly off due to the insitu art app used, so please ensure you measure your space.
