The courage it takes to keep going when times are tough is the very definition of 'courage' in itself. Tenacity, fortitude, resolution, spirit - all other words for courage - are actually needed in order to become 'courageous'.
 
When waves crash, storm clouds threaten, rain dampens, or sands shift from beneath us, we can choose to let them batter and defeat us, or we can muster strength, learn patience, persevere, and face them head on.
 
The lone bird flying overhead in this new painting was actually a 'mistake' (if such a thing exists on a canvas) a paint splatter from my palette knife, one of those 'meant to be, accidental, random moments'. It now stands symbolic of the courage it takes to fly high, and fly free in the face of adversity. I let it be.
 
I hope this new original is an inspiring and reflective reminder to keep going on the days you need courage to make it through.
