So many of my childhood memories and special holidays happened at the coast. We’d drive every school holidays to go boating, fishing, swimming, body surfing, camping, cabining, sight seeing, shell collecting, hiking, bike riding, water skiing… around inlets, along shorelines, through lush valleys, on grassy banks, climbing sandy dunes, and pebbly paths…we’d explore barefoot covered in sun screen from morning ‘til night. Seeing the pink sunset sky didn’t mean night was falling and our fun day was over, it signaled more precious moments to come; baking fresh fish over coals, campfire stews, toasting marshmallows, my dad’s guitar and campfire songs before crawling into warm beds gazing at starry skies as sleep forced our eyes closed until morning.
As I get older and with a family of my own I make sure every holiday I take with my own kids is filled with moments like these. And while times have changed I still approach every holiday time with the same intent…that in time to come, my own children would look back cherishing holidays and say, “Remember when…”
NB: While every effort is made to capture the true colours and details of my artwork, every screen is different and art viewed online does not do my work justice. Slight differences may be evident between a screen image and the true tone of my work which is more vivid and beautiful in reality. Scale may also be slightly off due to the insitu art app used, so please ensure you measure your space. Thank you!
